With more than 2,200 pounds (1,000 kilos), the buffalo is the heaviest and most dangerous wild animal in Argentina. Being less than 40 yards (45 meters) is a unique sensation.
At Rancho Salvaje Safari we have an open area where you can make an unforgettable hunt. In the early hours of the morning we began to walk, observing the herds and solitary males in search of a huge trophy. Once found and chosen, the guide will take you on the lookout to arrive within 100 yards (90 meters) of the Buffalo.
When is the Buffalo season in Argentina?
Buffalo season is open all year round, however having the possibility of coming to Argentina during small game hunting season is a great choice since you can combine both hunts in one place.
La Pampa Lodge – Water Buffalo Hunting Experience
At Rancho Salvaje Safari, we offer one of the most intense and adrenaline-filled big game hunting adventures: the pursuit of the Argentine Water Buffalo, an animal that can exceed 2,200 pounds (1,000 kg) and is considered the heaviest and most dangerous wild species in the country.
Our hunting area is located in the heart of La Pampa, a region renowned for its vast open plains and dense forests the ideal terrain for tracking these impressive animals. Getting as close as 40 meters (45 yards) to one of these giants is an unforgettable experience.
Each day begins early in the morning with a hearty breakfast, followed by a trip into the field with our experienced guides, in search of herds or solitary bulls. Once the ideal trophy is spotted, your guide will lead a careful and silent stalk to bring you within 100 meters (90 yards) for the perfect shot.
To complement this incredible adventure, you’ll stay at our La Paloma Lodge, located just minutes from the hunting areas and equipped with everything you need for comfort, relaxation, and high-quality service. The lodge can accommodate up to 10 guests, with spacious rooms, private bathrooms, air conditioning, heating, and privileged views of the natural surroundings.
Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Buenos Aires, transfer to the domestic airport, and flight to Santa Rosa (La Pampa). You’ll be greeted by our private van and driven approximately 1 hour to the hunting lodge. Dinner and rest.
(Alternatively, a private ground transfer from Buenos Aires is available, approximately 7 hours.) - Day 2: Before heading into the field, you’ll visit our shooting range for a practice session to ensure you’re comfortable and ready for the hunt.
- Day 2 to 7: Full days of Water Buffalo hunting with expert guides.
- Day 8: Return flight or private transfer back to Buenos Aires.
This hunt is suitable for a wide range of ages and experience levels.
