Guide and Hunting Area

Duck hunting, both in the morning and afternoon, takes place in flooded rice fields as well as in rivers and their overflows. Together, they form Argentina’s most impressive and extensive duck reserve. Each of these locations will have a strategically placed blind, surrounded by lush vegetation and elevated above the water, providing a solid platform for precise shots. An experienced guide will set up fixed and mobile decoys strategically, avoiding glare from the sun and creating two groups of decoys, while leaving a clear central space for ducks to land in the perfect shooting area. Additionally, around the estate, we have various natural fields for partridge hunting with dogs and fields with abundant vegetation and bushes for pigeon hunting.

The duck hunting season in Argentina begins in May, coinciding with the arrival of the first cold winds of the year, and extends until August.

Throughout these months, duck hunting is balanced, although the presence of different species may vary depending on the month. Depending on the time of year, hunters may observe a greater number of ducks from one species than another.

13 different species. Among them, the following stand out: Rosy-billed Pochard, Fulvous

OUR RECOMMENDATION
Ultimately, we recommend the following for your upcoming trip. If you’re seeking a duck hunting experience focused specifically on morning and evening hunts with guaranteed quotas, but also want the option to mix in some afternoons with partridge hunting, dove hunting, or fishing for giant dorado and surubi, our lodge located in San Javier on the banks of the Parana River (a world-renowned duck hunting area) has everything you need for your trip, and it’s the place you’ll wish you’d discovered sooner. Here, the quotas are incredible, and the abundance of ducks leads us to consider this area as Argentina’s largest duck reserve. Without a doubt, if you’re a dedicated duck hunter, you won’t want to miss this place.

If you are looking for a more complete and diverse experience, where you can enjoy all bird hunting modalities in Argentina from a single lodge, our Lodge La Paloma is ideal, as it is located between the provinces of La Pampa, Buenos Aires, and Córdoba. Start your mornings with thrilling duck hunts in the area’s lagoons and rivers, and in the afternoons, immerse yourself in an impressive spectacle by shooting at the countless doves in the majestic roosts, where you can
witness millions of them, or hunt pigeons in our exclusive feedlots, where the hunting experience is similar to duck hunting, as they are attracted by decoys. You can also choose to hunt common partridges or forest partridges with the help of our exceptional dogs, trained by us.
Additionally, here you will have the opportunity to combine small game hunting with big game hunting, where you can encounter species such as red deer, water buffalo, blackbuck, axis deer, mouflon, wild boar, and more. If this is the destination you seek, you won’t regret it. Both destinations await you to start a new adventure with Rancho Salvaje Safari.
