Perdiz hunting is about much more than the shot. It is about reading the field, following the guide, trusting the dog, and approaching each point with patience and anticipation.
Our dogs work methodically through the grasslands, using the wind to locate the birds. Once a perdiz is found, the dog holds its point while the hunters move carefully into position.
Then comes the moment that defines the experience: an explosive flush, a fast and unpredictable flight, and only seconds to make a precise, instinctive shot.

This traditional hunting style is typically practiced over pointing dogs that work close and methodically through the field, as perdiz are usually found individually or in small pairs rather than in large coveys.

Hunts are generally organized with two hunters, one guide, and a pointing dog, allowing every guest to remain close to the action while enjoying the camaraderie and friendly competition that make upland hunting so memorable.
Our private hunting areas include natural grasslands, open pastures, and alfalfa fields. Hunting locations are carefully selected and rotated according to field conditions, bird populations, weather, and the performance of each area.

Every hunting program is fully customizable according to your group’s preferences, desired species, travel schedule, and any additional activities you would like to include.
Guests may choose a dedicated perdiz program or combine their upland hunts with ducks, doves, pigeons, forest perdiz, or big game—all while staying at La Paloma Lodge.
Our team will review the available domestic flights and recommend the most convenient travel option for your arrival and departure dates. Private ground transportation and direct charter flights may also be arranged.
THE ITINERARY
DAY 1
Arrival in Argentina and Transfer to the Lodge
Personalized reception at Ezeiza International Airport. Depending on your international arrival time, you may travel to Santa Rosa that same day or spend one night in Buenos Aires before continuing to La Pampa. Upon arrival in Santa Rosa, you will be transferred by private vehicle to La Paloma Lodge, located approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from the airport. Your first evening will include a gourmet welcome dinner, premium beverages, and a complete briefing on your hunting program.
DAY 2 - 7
Perdiz Hunting Days
Each hunting day begins with a complete breakfast before departing for one of our carefully selected private fields. Hunters will generally walk in pairs accompanied by a professional guide and a trained pointing dog. The guide will explain the safest formation, how to approach each point, and the best position for a clean and precise shot. Throughout the session, the dog will work through natural grasslands, pastures, and alfalfa fields in search of perdiz. Every point creates a new moment of anticipation before the bird’s sudden and challenging flight. Following the morning hunt, guests may return to the lodge for a chef-prepared lunch and time to relax or enjoy a traditional Argentine barbecue in the field. The afternoon may include another perdiz session or a customized combination of ducks, doves, pigeons, or forest perdiz. Every evening concludes with gourmet cuisine, premium beverages, and stories shared by the fire.
DAY 8
Final Hunt and Departure
Enjoy breakfast followed by a final morning perdiz hunt. After the hunt, private transportation will be provided to Santa Rosa Airport, Ezeiza International Airport, or your selected hotel in Buenos Aires according to your departure itinerary.

COMMON PERDIZ
Argentina’s Classic Upland Game Bird Known scientifically as the Spotted Nothura (Nothura maculosa), the common perdiz inhabits open grasslands, pastures, and agricultural fields. Its natural camouflage allows it to remain almost invisible until the pointing dog locates it. Once flushed, its sudden acceleration and fast, direct flight demand quick reactions and instinctive shooting.

FOREST PERDIZ
A Completely Different Upland Challenge Larger and adapted to areas of natural woodland and scrub, the forest perdiz offers a more demanding hunt through thicker cover. Its ability to fly quickly between trees and vegetation requires precise positioning, fast reactions, and complete confidence in the work of the dog and guide.

SHOTGUNS
For bird hunting, we have new shotguns from the Benelli and Beretta brands, available in both 12 and 20 gauge. In addition to being able to attach stock extenders and customize them to your fit, we also have shotguns for left-handed shooters.
In the Benelli brand, we offer the M2 and M1 models.
In the Beretta brand, we have the A400 Xplor Kick Off model (this system reduces recoil by 70% when firing the shotgun).

Rancho Salvaje Safari manages the required hunting licenses and provincial permits for every guest. Before your arrival, our team will request the necessary personal information and documentation to ensure that everything is prepared for the beginning of your hunting program. We also provide guidance throughout the process of temporarily importing your personal shotgun into Argentina or arranging the rental of one of our lodge firearms.
